POSITION/TITLE: DIRECTOR – PRODUCT MANAGEMENT





1. JOB DESCRIPTION:



Director Product Management will be responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.



2. EDUCATION:



B. Tech + MBA from a reputed institute.



3. EXPERIENCE:



· 10- 12 years experience in product management, product marketing.

· Should have been a head of the product management function. Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products

· 3+ years of experience in a job in the enterprise applications or financial services applications.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills



4. SKILLS:



· Technical background, with experience in Web based technologies

· Excellent teamwork skills

· Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

· Must be able to travel 30% of the time

· Examples and at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past

· N-Tier Architecture, design patterns, Object Oriented Design and Modeling (UML)

5. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



· Define the product strategy and roadmap

· Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification

· Be an expert with respect to the competition

· Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product

· Perform product demos to customers

· Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals

· Deliver a monthly revenue forecast

The product manager will be responsible for managing the Product Management

Function. The role involves



* Identifying customer and market needs in this area; translating these requirements into product features; writing product specifications; developing collateral.



* Working with Engineering in the evaluation of product requirements and trade off.



* Helping manage relationships with technology partners.



* Providing internal /external product support and training and contribute to product documentation.



* Managing product user group, product road map and product life cycle management.



2.EDUCATION:



BE and/or MBA from a reputed institute.



3. EXPERIENCE:



· 5-8 years of experience as a Product Manager with a top tier software product firm with a focus on ERP/supply chain management solutions/ Financial applications

· Should be process oriented, Knowledge of the commodities business and derivates (futures and options) would be an added advantage.

· Experience in implementation of any business application is desirable.



4. SKILLS:



· The person needs to be creative at designing product solutions that allow clients to more easily interact with the models and data in the products. You must have excellent skills for working in cross-functional teams of with Software Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Support.

· Should have working knowledge of any web technology, preferably J2EE.

· Serve as primary product expert and evangelist.

· Lead product design, development and release process for assigned products and maintain the product development road map.

· Coordinate the collection, description, analysis and prioritization of requests for new product functionality from customers and prospects.

· Create detailed use cases, business requirements, and marketing requirements.

· Support marketing, sales and support through leading the development and maintenance of various technical marketing collateral including application notes, FAQs, product notes, user guides, field training presentations, online marketing content and demos.

· Develop hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products and maintain technical analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses.

· Coordinate beta testing of new products and features. Document and report problems and recommend solutions/improvements to program managers. Participate in product performance benchmarking activities.
