Business Head: Retail IT services

t the outset we introduce ourselves as a Bangalore based consultancy
firm with offices in Hyderabad and Kolkata working in areas of
Senior Management placements. Currently we are in search of "Business
Head- Retail IT Services" for a leading IT services Company, details
of which is given below:

1. Title – Business Head: Retail IT services

2. Background – A leading IT Services Company with revenues of
US$ 300 millions is starting a Retail IT initiative across the
country with an initial investment of 1000 crores. This organisation
is a part of a large conglomerate which includes banking, insurance
and other financial services. is getting into the retail IT space in
a big way. They already are in the process of setting up about 6000
access points across both rural and semi-urban areas and are poised
to set up another 9000 to 10000 access points over the next 12 to 18
months. Each of these access points would be ICT enabled – PC's,
scanners, printers, UPS, 24 x 7 broadband etc. Operators (2 to 3 per
center) would be present in each of the centers and would offer
various types of services to retail customers. The services could
range from financial services (banking, insurance, mutual funds etc)
to utilities bill payments to info on commodity pricing etc etc. In
short, anything that could be provided using ICT technology would be
offered

3. Job profile

a. The person heading the above business would need to identify
streams of services/products that could be offered through the access
points, tie up the agreements (eg: a bank), work out the
implementation process incl roll out across as many locations as
possible, train the operators and monitor the services

b. The person would need to plan out several local level
initiatives to drive retail customers to the centers – local
marketing and sales initiatives

c. The person would be measured based on revenue targets.
Revenue could be through a combination of commissions for services
offered (eg: commissions paid by banks) and/or payments made by the
retail customers for use of the ICT based services. Other revenue
streams are possible and the person would be expected to exploit
every possible stream

4. Qualifications and experience

a. MBA marketing from a reputed institute is a must

b. Consumer selling/marketing experience of at least 10 years,
preferably in a financial services industry

c. Should have worked in at least 3 states in the country,
preferably in the rural areas and hence must have a clear
understanding of the psyche, the aspirations, changing market
dynamics etc

d. Experience in managing a large network of dealers, retail
outlets would be an added advantage

e. Needs to be a self-starter, dynamic and innovative

f. Needs to think BIG and execute BIG

5. Remuneration: Would be a mix of salary and performance
incentives. Salary no constraint for the right person

6. Reporting into: The role would report into the head of e-
governance.

7. Location: Bangalore. Bombay could be the next option, if a
suitable person is not available in Bangalore

8. Most important – As the role calls for a typical consumer
marketing person, the person has to be ready to shift into a
technology led organization
