Business Strategy Analyst

Position Description

The jobholder facilitates evolution of this framework by carrying out
necessary research and study, and recommending areas of opportunity for
providing services and also for growth of company.

The jobholder has the following broad areas of focus:

1. Research facilitation for formulation of strategies:

The organisational strategies and initiatives are formulated by the
Senior management team in India and the senior management team from UK.
The basic research work and study which will be used as the basis for
evaluating various business strategy options will be provided by the
jobholder. In this role the jobholder ensures that he understands all
the dimensions of the business and its various components, various
dimensions across various industries and government bodies and is able
to project how different variables will move in different time frames
and its implications on the business in terms of opportunities or
threats. This data is generated either internally within the group or
through external resources/research and then analysed by the jobholder
to work out strategic alternatives or strategic framework for the
organisation. For e.g. the various parameters will need to go through a
value / benefit analysis in order to arrive at a decision matrix of
whether to make an offering of a particular service to Indian Market.
However, the actual decisions are taken by the Managing Director and
others depending on the size and magnitude of the decision.

2. To define/ provide tools and methodologies:

Another major responsibility for this position is to define and design
various tools and techniques that lead to strategic decisions in the
organisation. The jobholder has to define various business models /
financial models which will be capable of predicting the growth/
opportunities within specified parameters and can throw up various best
and worst case scenarios.

3. Business Performance Management:

Within this focus area the job responsibilities are to ensure that the
operations planning are aligned with the organisational goals and
strategies and do periodic reviews to see that the targets/growth are in
line.

4. Management Reviews:

The jobholder has to ensure that the management reviews are happening on
time. For this, the jobholder needs to ensure that the metrics,
templates and mechanisms for these reviews are in place and then do the
base work for the prioritization of issues/ function in these review
discussions. For this the jobholder needs to regularly co-ordinate with
various departments/ functions within the organisation. On basis of these
management reviews the strategic initiatives are revisited and reviewed
on a periodic basis.

5. Network:

The jobholder will need to maintain and manage a network for information
on various opportunities which are expected to arise in the short term,
middle term or long term future. The network would be covering the
various government bodies, agencies, ministries, Management
consultancies, industry bodies etc.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To scan the environment for parameters related
to the business of the organisation and collect, collate and otherwise
analyse relevant data needed for business decisions

2. To generate alternative scenarios with respect
to generic or specific business needs of the organisation

3. To provide assistance and or guidance in the
formulation of functional or departmental business plans in terms of the
strategic direction

4. To create business plans and other strategic
documents for the company both in the short term as well as long run

5. To define various tools, models and
methodologies for analysing strategies

To maintain a network in the relevant place to source necessary
information for business research and analysis

Qualification:

Post Graduate in Management; from tier 1 and tier 2 institutes, with
specialisation in Marketing/ finance/business strategy. Engineer MBAs or
Eco graduates with a MBA will be preffered.

Knowledge of FEMA regulations, Structuring of corporate etc will be
helpful

Experience

4 – 5 yrs of Experience in Strategy Development /corporate planning
