The brief description about the company is pasted below.
Introduction of company: www.seagramindia.com

Taking a cue from the liberalization of the economic environment,
Seagram set shop in India in the year 1994, after assessing the market
potential in the country. Production commenced in India in 1995 with
the scotches, and then moved on to the development and production of
Royal Stag.

In the year 2001, Groupe Pernod Ricard acquired a significant part of
Seagram worldwide, after the divestment of the Spirits and Wine
business by Vivendi Universal. The acquired part of the Seagram
business catapulted Groupe Pernod Ricard into the top three of the
global wine & spirits players. The acquisition also brought Seagram
India into its fold, making Groupe Pernod Ricard, headquartered in
Paris, the biggest MNC in the spirits business in India. Seagram India
has shown an aggressive growth rate since 95-96 and is today the most
profitable company in the spirits business in India. Seagram India is
presently known as Pernod Ricard India.

Pernod Ricard Worldwide the parent company

Founded in 1975 with the merger of two French majors, Pernod Ricard is
today the second largest player in the spirits and wine business in
the world. Already the top producer in the Euro Zone in the spirits
sector, Groupe Pernod Ricard consolidated its position in Europe and
Russia and moved into the second spot in Asia, Central, and South
America. In North America, the group substantially increased its sales
volumes, becoming the 6th largest operator in the market.

At the same time, the group refocused its resources on spirits and
wine, withdrawing from its diversified businesses of fruit
preparations, ciders, wholesale distribution, etc.

With 15 spirits in the portfolio that sell more than 1 million cases
each annually, as well as a considerable number of local and regional
brands with high development potential, the group now has a strong,
widely diversified range in terms of products and markets.

First place worldwide for anise-based spirits and bitters, second
place for cognac and gin and third place for Scotch whisky and vodka,
Groupe Pernod Ricard has major brands in all categories of spirits.
Whisky (39%) is now the group"s leading distilled spirit sector by
volume, ahead of anise-based spirits (18%), white spirits including
rums (26%), Bitters (5%), Cognacs and Brandies (5%) and other products
(7%).

France represents 17% of sales by volume, the rest of Europe 39%,
while the respective shares of the Americas and Asia are 25%
and 19%.
