Associate – Private Equity, Hong Kong

Position: Associate – Private Equity
Location: Hong Kong
The Firm: Our client is a Hong Kong based Alternatives Asset Firm
with excess of US$1 billion of assets under management. The Firm has
been one of the longest-standing Asia-based investors in private
equity funds and have invested into over 100 private equity funds
since late 1980s. They have been voted by the global readership of
Private Equity International as "Best Fund of Funds in Asia". The
firm primarily makes co-investments in high caliber companies
alongside some of the industry's top private equity funds. In
addition, the firm also makes select Fund of Fund investments in top
private equity and venture capital funds.
The Firm is evaluating making insightful investments in private
companies and private equity funds in India.
The Role: Our client is seeking to recruit an Investment Associate
in its team, to be based in Hong Kong but with extensive travel to
India and potentially elsewhere in the Asia Pac region (the coverage
responsibilities for the role would be approximately 40%-50% India,
40%-50% rest of Asia, and may be some involvement in the US/European
portfolio).

The Requirements: The requirements are for someone with a solid
educational background and around three to five years of relevant
work experience. He/she should be a quick learner and is financially
aware and has a solid knowledge of the Indian economic landscape.
Private Equity / Fund-of-Funds experience per se is not required as
the team would provide adequate training to the relevant individual
(the current team members have varying backgrounds including
accountancy, industry/operations , investment banking, law and
strategy consulting). Someone who wants to move to the Buy side
and/or is looking for an international experience would fit the
profile.

Key responsibilities would include:
--Evaluating and managing relationships with Fund Managers
--Analyzing acquisition multiples and previous fund performance
--Valuing portfolio companies
--Participating in all aspects of due diligence including
interviewing fund managers and senior officers of portfolio
companies
--Preparing written reviews summarizing results of due diligence and
recommendations

Qualifications:
--3-5 years experience in investment banking, consulting or PE/FOF
--Excellent verbal and written communication skills
--Consistent track record of high achievement, both professionally
as well as academically
