Group Product Manager

This is with reference to the telecon Iregarding the job opportunity discussed; I am sending you the JD for Group Product Manager.

Objective:
Define the target audience for the assigned Product Group and Establish needs and evolve brand propositions and plan to build the brand equity with the target consumer in terms of brand recall, preference and loyalty. Manage the output of new product initiatives and promotions with the corporate strategy to increase the market share, building gross margins and driving innovation both in product as well as propositions in the assigned product category.

Operating Network:
Role: Group Product Manager- New Product Development

Internally coordinating with GM-Marketing, Business Head, Brand Managers, and Category Teams.

Externally coordinating with advertising agencies, media, research agencies and the end consumers

Experience: 7-10 Years of experience in Marketing / Brand Management in an FMCG/ Retail set up; out of which 2-4 years of experience in FMCG sales. (MBA from a premiere institute is a must)

Responsibilities:
U
nderstand Markets
Define target audience for the assigned product category. Set market research objectives, approve the methodology and location. Visit the research centres to get a first hand feel of consumer feedback. Review secondary reports regularly to cover consumer preferences and industry trend. Participate in competitive mapping by collection samples on market visits and consumer feedback. Develop/ Revise the brand seed, pyramid and proposition reflecting the understanding of consumer needs (met and unmet) and other market forces (Competition, Regulation etc.)

Manage Brands
Monitor brand track scores and develop plans to meet desired scores

Develop new concepts taking into account Consumer needs and the Brand Seed. Conduct preliminary research for understanding consumer reaction to the concept, estimate volumes and gross margins coordinate with research agency and conduct fieldwork. Define price points and regional variations. Finalize concept and share with Technical, Purchase and R&D.

Arrive at the activity calendar with detailed brand/ month wise spends and sales estimation. For individual consumer promotions, define objectives, brainstorm internally and identify Key success Factors. Seek inputs from Sales, Technical and R&D. Finalize business plan and investment requirements. Seek approval from the Mancom. Coordinate the execution with Sales, Technical and R&D. Track investments vs. budgets

Manage Marketing Services
Coordinate with the agency on all aspects pertinent to the assigned Product group viz. research, promotion design, Copy development, Media buying etc. Validate all briefing formats going to the agency from the Product Group, provide inputs on the initial plans provided by the agency and check the output at all steps.

Develop New Products
Own the schedule and deliverables of New Product Introduction projects in the assigned categories. Collaboratively develop the Product Charter and obtain approval at the MTM based on estimated volumes and gross margin. Check if any product in the Danone portfolio can meet the sepcifications. Coordinate the acquisition or development of research samples and the fieldwork for Concept Testing. Brief the research agency, finalise the methodology of research, validate findings. Facilitate a go - no go decision on the project based on consumer test findings. Brief the R&D Packaging Team and Agency on Artwork and Packaging format and approve output.

Other Responsibilities:
Annual Budgeting (Sales Budgeting): Study and analyze market data in detail in order to arrive at Sales budget
Monthly Sales Forecast: Prepare activity plans for the month/ quarter in collaboration with the sales team
Review and Reporting: Prepare or review material/ presentations for MTM, VC, Ops Plan
